SpaceX’s Starlink broadband-by-satellite system has slashed the price of its dish/modem equipment for Germany. Its new ‘deposit’ for the equipment has been cut to €299 (plus €23 for delivery) and down from €499. The monthly subscription stays the same, however, at €50.
Retailers such as Cyberport and MediaSaturn have the kit on offer, and MediaSaturn is offering free shipping.
Data from astrophysicist Jonathan McDowell says that with last weekend’s pair of launches there are have been 5,331 satellites launched, and 4,938 are working in orbit.
