Channel 4 appoints Hayat as Director of Strategy

Channel 4 has announced the appointment of Khalid Hayat as Director of Strategy and Consumer Insight.
In this newly created role reporting directly to Chief Operating Officer, Jonathan Allan, Khalid will lead both the Corporate Strategy and Consumer Insight functions with overall responsibility for Channel 4’s Corporate Strategy – advising on major strategic issues, providing information and analysis to support key decisions and implementing long-term planning.
Khalid joins Channel 4 from Deloitte where he is a Director in the strategy consulting practice, working with multiple high-profile TMT clients. He is a specialist in the broadcast sector, with 20 years of experience in consulting and the TV industry, having also previously held senior strategy positions at both ITV and Ofcom.
Allan said: “It’s fantastic to have secured someone with Khalid’s wealth of experience alongside an obvious passion for TV, into this key strategic role for Channel 4. This is a significant year for us and for public service broadcasting as a whole and Khalid’s expertise and insight will add real value to our future strategy and business planning.”
Hayat added: “I’ve worked with Channel 4 in many different capacities over the past 20 years – as an advisor, industry partner, competitor and regulator. I am delighted to be joining the channel in such a crucial year and at such exciting time for UK broadcasting.”
