Spain: Third DTT migration phase completed
March 3, 2020
From David Del Valle in Madrid
The third DTT migration phase in Spain has been completed with the switch-off of the 700 MHz band in Alava, Teruel, Vizcaya East and West, Zaragoza North and South. Now, Spain faces the fourth phase, to be completed by June 30th, when the whole country will already have migrated to the new frequencies.
The whole process (dubbed the ‘second dividend’) exists to release the 700 MHz band to the benefit of 5G services. State subsidies of between €104 and €677 per building were approved by the Government to finance the migration process to a total of €145 million.
The first dividend took place at the end of 2014 for 4G services and now Spain is finalising the second one.
