An analysis of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India data by the country’s Telecom Talk news-site says that, with recent consolidation helping reduce the previous six DTH broadcasters to just four, Tata Sky is now providing its subscribers with the most HD TV channels.
Tata Sky, as of January 26th, is beaming 91 HD channels to subscribers. Tata Sky’s total channel count is an impressive 589.
Airtel Digital TV – which might or might not be merging with Dish TV – is next in line with 86 HD channels on offer, 30 of which are exclusive, and beats Tata Sky with 626 channels overall.
The Videocon d2h bouquet, now part of Dish TV since the two merged in 2018, has the least number of HD channels on offer at 64. Dish TV itself, backed by Essel Group, offers a total of 70 HD channels.
Sun Direct, the fourth DTH broadcaster, has 75 HD channels as part of its bouquet.
