Mediapro pulls out of Atresmedia
December 3, 2019
From David Del Valle in Madrid
Spanish TV group Mediapro, holder of the main football TV rights in the country, is pulling out of Atresmedia with the sale of its 3 per cent in the TV group for an estimated value of €27.5 million.
Mediapro has made the decision on the grounds that its share participation in the TV group, operator of Antena 3 TV and La Sexta, is “not strategic”. Mediapro aims to focus on the management of TV rights and the provision of TV services to other media companies.
Mediapro is controlled by the Chinese group Orient Hontai Capital with a 53.5 per cent stake.
