Spain: OTTs near 40% penetration

A report from Estudio General de Medios (EGM), responsible for measuring audiovisual audiences in Spain, reveals that OTT and SVoD is increasingly gaining momentum with a penetration of just over 38 per cent achieved in the last four years.
Netflix is the market leader, taking 32.7 per cent of all VoD subscriptions, with HBO and Amazon Prime Video fighting for second position with 11.2 and 12.6 per cent respectively, according to EGM.
The report also notes that pay-TV penetration amounts to 53.8 per cent with Movistar, Vodafone and Orange taking around 30 per cent of subscribers.
