DAZN nears 8m subs
November 26, 2019
DAZN, the OTT sports streaming service, is reportedly nearing eight million global subscribers, having almost doubled its customer base in the last six months.
Comparatively ESPN+, the OTT platform from Disney-owned sports giant ESPN, reached 3.5 million paid subscribers at the end of their fourth quarter.
DAZN is currently present in 9 markets – the US, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, Spain, Canada, Italy and Brazil. Some 90 per cent of its subscribers are based outside of the US. The platform has built up strong numbers with the country-specific acquisition of a number of key sporting rights – including Champions League and Europa League football, Grandslam tennis, MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, UFC and international cricket.
A DAZN spokesperson told SportsPro: “As a private company, we don’t publish our subscriber numbers. But we are pleased with our performance and growth around the world.”
