London-based speciality satellite operator Avanti has hired Matt Childs from Eutelsat.

Childs takes up the position of Director of Government/Wholesale & Integrators. At Eutelsat he was Commercial Director of its ‘Quantum’ satellite programme. He is also well-known as being CEO at Solaris Mobile, the S-band joint-venture between Eutelsat and SES and subsequently sold to EchoStar.

Avanti’s COO-Customer, Libby Barr, said: ““Matt brings to Avanti over 35 years’ worth of experience in the converged technology sectors, over half of which has been dedicated to business development and sales of satellite communications services. As we focus on the growth of Avanti’s wholesale customers, Matt is the ideal person to be leading us forward.”
