YouTube TV raises price; adds Discovery

Google is raising the price of a YouTube TV subscription by $10 (€8.8) to $49.99 a month. The increased fee is effective immediately for all new subscribers. Existing customers will see the price hike after May 13th. Subscribers billed through Apple will have to pay $54.99.
A blog post said increased pricing was necessary in order to provide “the best service possible”.
The company also announced it was adding eight channels owned by Discovery, including the Discovery channel, HGTV, Food Network, TLC and Animal Planet. They join the 70+ live TV networks already alvailable on the service.
YouTube TV also revealed it willadd the OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network later this year.
The move comes after DirecTV Now raised its price to $50 in March, and Hulu increased its live TV plan price to $45 in January.
