Sky, NBCU rationalise distribution
April 8, 2019
Sky and Comcast are rationalising their distribution merging Sky NBCUniversal International operations.
NBCU’s UK pay-TV channels will now be based at Sky’s Osterley HQ along with NBCU’s EMEA Networks team. In a similar move in Germany, Sky will become the parent company of NBCU’s Networks business.
Sky’s distribution arm Sky Vision is expected to be folded into NBCUniversal’s global distribution business. Inevitably the moves will mean job cuts.
CEO Jeremy Darroch said in an email to staff: “We recognise these proposals could have an impact on some of our colleagues within Sky and NBCU and, as always, they will be fully supported through these changes.”
