Verizon Media‘s Yahoo has opened a new production studio in Paris with the aim of increasing in-house productions, and to double its mobile audience in France.
“Our video [production] is set to [increase sevenfold], and as well as our current shows, we now have the capacity to react to breaking news. Our goal is to be different than television” said Yahoo France content director Alexandre Delperrier at a press conference in Paris.
Claiming 13 million unique visitors per month (Comscore) and a base of 5 million active users, Delperrier wants to double the number of the platform’s mobile users.
“We have a true role to play in the media landscape, not only as an aggregator but also as a content producer of our own formats,” explained Delperrier.
Political debates and new formats on environment and sustainable development are also in the pipeline, as well as NBA and tennis shows to go along with the football one it already produces.
