Netflix CEO Reed Hastings told journalists in Hollywood that its SVoD service will not be among the choices for users on Apple TV. Apple is expected to officially unveil its streaming service on March 25th.
“We prefer to let our customers watch our content on our service,” Hastings said, adding “We have chosen not to integrate with their service.”
He went on to say that Netflix would be watching carefully the output from their soon-to-be rivals and would learn lessons from them but would not get “too distracted”.
“They are going to do some great shows. I’m going to be envious. They’re going to come up with some great ideas. We’re going to want to borrow those.”
Hastings told journalists that competition would make a better industry. He also said he did not expect a breakthrough as far as Netflix distribution was concerned in China. He expected the Chinese door to stay closed “for a long time”.
