March 1, 2019
From David Del Valle in Madrid
Spain’s two largest private TV companies, Mediaset and Atresmedia, experienced mixed fortunes in 2018 in terms of financial results.
Mediaset increased its profits by 1.4 per cent to €200 million, whereas Atresmedia saw its fall by 37.9 per cent to €88.2 million.
The ad crisis and the fall in revenues accordingly are the main reasons behind the results.
Atresmedia made €969.2 million in revenues, down 0.9 per cent, with EBITDA going down €15 million to €170.6 million. TV Ad revenues dropped by 2.4 per cent to €829.4 million.
Mediaset’s EBITDA grew by 4.5 per cent to €274 million. Revenues reached €981.6 million, down 1.5 per cent with TV ad revenues decreasing by 0.6 per cent to €963.6 million.
