Canal Plus is in preliminary talks to acquire Qatar-based beIN Sports, according to reports in France.

The French broadcaster could be seeking to push forward with a deal before summer, allowing them to boost subscriber numbers by 3.5 million.

The acquisition of beIN Sports would also enable Canal Plus to expand its portfolio of sports rights.

There has thus far been no comment on the talks from either party.
