MultiChoice to freeze pay-TV prices

MultiChoice, just days ahead of its listing as a separate company (from its parent Naspers) on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, says it will freeze its pay-TV subscription fees for the rest of 2019.
Normally MultiChoice hikes its prices annually on April 1st. But now a subscriber’s core/basic payment of Rand 809/month (about €52) will stay unchanged.
MultiChoice South Africa CEO Calvo Mawela, in a statement, said: “We understand that times are tough in South Africa, and that our customers are under pressure to make every cent they spend count. As such, we’re keeping DStv as affordable and accessible as possible to as many households as we can, to ensure they can enjoy great entertainment for their families.”
