United Airlines expands free on-board DirecTV

The number of airlines which realise that charging for in-flight connectivity only raise a very limited amount of cash is falling.
United Airlines is now adding ‘free’ DirecTV to its passengers with more than 100 channels now available, live and in real time, on 211 of its Boeing 737 aircraft. Note, however, that some of United’s 737’s do not have any provision for seat entertainment. The United offer also includes access to the aircraft’s usual pile of movies and other streamed entertainment.
In general, United is now matching similar offerings from Delta Airlines and American Airlines.
JetBlue is another airline with a ‘free’ offer for DirecTV programming.
These offers are only available on aircraft when flying over the continental USA.
