Canal+ denies CanalPlay revamp

Canal+ has denied that it plans to revamp its CanalPlay SVoD service, closed in the summer of 2018 after a dramatic loss of subscribers.
In response to a story published by financial daily Les Echos, Canal+ chairman and CEO Maxime Saada tweeted January 10th: “There won’t be any revival of CanalPlay, but numerous new ideas are under consideration, including one already signalled by Satellifax before the Christmas break”.
The group considers that after the integration of CanalPlay’s offering into MyCanal, the mobile and TV Everywhere VoD platform has become a major SVoD service it its own right.
It gives subscribers on-demand access to all-genres contents, as well as to live TV. Canal+ is now looking towards the launch of thematic services, such as kids-oriented platform MyCanal Kids, currently available from MyCanal website, whose app will be launched during the forthcoming spring, the group told Advanced Television.
Saada merely confirmed in his tweet that the operator is preparing for Q1 a SVoD offering that will focus on TV series and will replace what was intended for CanalPlay.
