Lorena Bobbitt docuseries to premiere Feb 15 on Amazon Prime Video
January 9, 2019
Amazon has today announced that Lorena, a four-part Prime Original documentary series executive produced by Jordan Peele (Get Out), will launch on Friday 15th February, exclusively on Prime Video, following the world premiere at The Sundance Film Festival on Tuesday 29th January.
Directed by acclaimed documentary filmmaker Joshua Rofé (Lost for Life), Lorena reveals the hidden truths in the notorious case of John Wayne and Lorena Bobbitt and challenges the long-held narrative that surrounded the event. The series provides a fresh perspective on the story of Lorena Bobbitt and exposes how the case laid the groundwork for the modern 24-hour news cycle and increasing sensationalistic media coverage. Lost in tabloid coverage and late-night talk show jokes, the Bobbitt story was a missed opportunity for a national discussion on domestic and sexual assault in America. Lorena is a groundbreaking re-investigation of the deep moral issues and painful human tragedies buried at the heart of the infamous American scandal.
Lorena is executive produced by Jordan Peele and Win Rosenfeld (BlacKKKlansman) for Monkeypaw; Steven J. Berger (Lost Holiday) and Joshua Rofé for Number 19; Tom Lesinski (Mr. Mercedes) and Jenna Santoianni (Taboo) for Sonar; and produced by Monkeypaw, Sonar Entertainment and Number 19.
