Spain: 6.6m pay-TV homes

Pay-TV penetration is growing in Spain: in the second quarter of the year, pay -TV reached 6.6 million, up 8.1 per cent versus the same period in 20177, according to the Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia (CNMC).
IPTV leads the distribution platforms with 4.2 million pay-TV subscribers. In a year, IPTV gained 640,000 subscribers versus the loss of 100,000 customers both in each of satellite and cable.
Most of the subscribers take a convergent package with up to five services. This type of package gained 649,000 subscribers to 5.7 million versus a loss of 46,000 customers in quad-play packages.
Movistar, Vodafone and Orange took 77.3 per cent of revenues for the convergent services, which totalled €6.3 billion in the second quarter.
