Leading Croatian operator Hrvatski Telekom has signed a contract with Hrvatska Posta (Croatian Post) for the acquisition of the entire share capital of HP Produkcija, the parent company of DTT pay-TV platform evotv.
Broadcasting since 2012, evotv’s DVB-T2 signal currently covers 94 per cent of Croatian households. The basic subscription costs HRK 69.99 (€9.40) and customers have the possibility of acquiring additional thematic channel packages.
According to data from the end of June 2018, evotv had 71,195 subscribers, or 21.9 per cent more than a year ago. The company ended 2017 with revenues of HRK 57 million (€7.7 million), which accounts to a 6 per cent market share.
The transaction is dependent to regulatory approvals and it should be finalized by the end of 2018.
If approved, it will allow Hrvatski Telekom to further strengthen its position on the Croatian pay-TV market, where it is currently leader with 413,000 subscribers (data from September 2018).
The pay-TV segment in Croatia was worth HRK 190.4 million (€25.6 million), up 3.56 per cent year-on-year, according to data from sector regulator Hakom.
