MultiChoice to widen ‘dishless’ options

South Africa’s pay-TV operator MultiChoice is looking to offer its full range of channels and programming to users via streaming OTT.
Business Day newspaper is reporting that the OTT scheme comes at much the same time as parent company Naspers is about to spin-off MultiChoice as a stand-alone business. The spin-off is expected during early 2019.
The streaming OTT plan should make it easier for MultiChoice to compete directly with Netflix and Amazon.
The news report quotes Niclas Ekdahl, CEO of MultiChoice’s Connected Video unit saying that the business was working on the challenges in order to create a “phenomenal” service.
