October 26, 2018
From David Del Valle in Madrid
The so-called El Clásico, the football match between the two largest Spanish teams, Real Madrid and Barcelona this weekend will be broadcast in 4K for 650 million viewers in 183 countries.
Spanish TV group Mediapro will produce the broadcast with 30 UHD cameras and surround sound. La Liga has compared the TV transmission with the US NFL Super Bowl.
Meanwhile, Mediapro offered Barça €300 million to rename its stadium with the Mediapro brand and sponsor Camp Nou for the next 20 years. However, the team refused the naming offer as Mediapro refused to drop a lawsuit against the previous president of the club Sandro Rosell.
