Spain: TV ad market in freefall; but not pay-TV

The Spanish TV market experienced a 1.3 per cent fall in ad revenues to €1.5 billion to September 30th, according to consultancy firm Infoadex.
FTA TV channels also experienced a big drop, above all Regional TV ad supported stations seeing a 12.3 per cent drop. The largest TV operators, Mediaset and Atresmedia – with a combined market share of 84 per cent, saw declines of 0.7 per cent and 3.5 per cent, respectively to €658.5 million and €617.2 million.
Pay TV channels, though, increased their ad revenues by 10.9 per cent to €73.4 million, a market share of 4.9 per cent.
