Netflix hires Bodyguard

Netflix has struck a deal with ITV Studios Global Entertainment for the streaming rights to thriller series Bodyguard to its members globally outside of the UK and Ireland and China from October 24th. Bodyguard is produced by World Productions, an ITV Studios company.
The series is currently proving a ratings hit on BBC One. Episode one received a consolidated figure of 10.4 million viewers, with a 40.9 per cent share on tthe channel. This is the highest launch figure for any new drama across all UK channels in a decade. The final episode is set to air on September 23rd
“Bodyguard has gripped the nation with its twists and turns,” noted Maria Kyriacou, President International, ITV Studios. “It’s a perfect example of a show produced locally which has huge global appeal. Through our partnership with Netflix, we can’t wait for audiences around the world to enjoy the show as much as audiences here in the UK.”
