June 27, 2018
Spotify has hired Dawn Ostroff as chief content officer, signalling the music service’s wider ambitions in media.
Ostroff was president of Condé Nast Entertainment, the publisher’s video studio. She will report to Daniel Ek, Spotify’s chief executive, and be responsible for its content and editorial divisions, as well as the creator services side of Spotify’s business, which handles the detailed data reports it makes available to artists.
Ostroff’s TV credits include the likes of Everybody Hates Chris and Veronica Mars (whilst at UPN from 2002 to 2006), Gossip Girl and The Vampire Diaries (whilst at The CW, prior to heading Condé) and Sony’s 2017 movie Only the Brave, as well as the upcoming Fox Searchlight drama The Old Man and the Gun, starring Casey Affleck.
