Germany embracing sport streaming
June 19, 2018
Some 30 per cent third of broadband users in Germany watch live sport via streams or live text feeds, up from 23 per cent in 2016, according to a study by German digital association Bitkom.
The survey of over 1,000 people found that more than half (54 per cent) of those who watch live sports live use their smartphone to do so; 53 per cent said they used smart TVs; 29 per cent said they used tablets, and just 17 per cent said they watched on their laptop.
Free catch-up services were the second most popular offerings online among broadband users after sports. Just under half of viewers (48 per cent) said they used online services from Germany’s public broadcasters, up from 44 per cent in 2016.
