Apple signs content deal with Oprah
June 18, 2018
Apple has announced a multi-year content partnership with Oprah Winfrey, the esteemed producer, actress, talk show host, philanthropist and CEO of OWN.
Together, Winfrey and Apple say they will create original programmes that “embrace her incomparable ability to connect with audiences around the world”.
Winfrey’s projects will be released as part of a line-up of original content from Apple.
The deal joins a raft of big content deals signed by Apple in recent months as it seeks to become a genuine Netflix competitor. Among other projects, the tech giant has commissioned a new season of Steven Spielberg’s Amazing Stories, and a new original series starring Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston about the TV industry.
