LOVEStv goes live in Spain
June 15, 2018
From David Del Valle in Madrid
LOVEStv, a joint HbbTV platform created by Spanish broadcasters RTVE, Atresmedia and Mediaset, has commenced transmissions.
The FTA platform – that will become an OTT service in a later phase – is offering content from the broadcasters and added-value functionalities such as 7-day catch-up, the option to start an ongoing programme from the beginning, an improved EPG, and a recommendation engine.
The brand name, LOVEStv, is inspired by the motto ‘I love TV’ in reference to DTT and a wordplay on the Spanish ‘Lo ves’ TV – ‘You see it’ in English.
With the new platform, the broadcasters aim to take on the likes of Netflix and HBO at a time when these streaming services are gaining ground in Spain.
