Pirate DTT channels soar in Spain
May 15, 2018
From David Del Valle in Madrid
Pirate DTT channels are increasingly proliferating in Spain, above all in the local DTT Market and the South of Spain in the Region of Andalucía.
The Andalucía Audiovisual Council (CAA) has reported the illegal presence of 121 DTT frequencies in Andalucía. The illegal DTT predominantly broadcast clairvoyance programmes (83 per cent) and religious programmes (11 per cent) with the rest offering news, entertainment and fiction with a high presence of advertising (around 48 per cent of the total programming).
Many of them pirate the signal of satellite TV channels to offer their content on the illegal DTT market.
