Spanish TV operator Atresmedia, owner of Antena 3 and La Sexta among other channels, has reached an agreement with streaming service Netflix to produce and distribute the TV series La casa de Papel.
This is the first deal of this kind in Spain between a FTA operator and a pay TV service, opening the door for similar agreements in the market.
As part of the deal, Netflix and Vancouver Media will produce the new season of La casa de Papel, a successful TV series both in Spain and Internationally (America, Asia and Europe).
In Spain, the series regularly attracts record-breaking audiences with an average share of 14.4 per cent and over 2.2 million viewers per episode.
