Spain: OTT platform opened to more operators
March 28, 2018
From David Del Valle in Madrid
The Spanish HbbTV platform to be launched later this year by RTVE, Atresmedia and Mediaset will be opened up to other operators in the market to offer all FTA DTT channels and their VoD offerings.
“More TV groups will join us now the project is open up to other operators”, an RTVE spokesperson told news agency Efe.
The platform will develop with live and recorded transmissions and functionalities like catch-up, recording and past seven days service. The broadcasters also plan to distribute exclusive content.
The decision to launch a joint OTT platform is based on the lack of spectrum because of the digital dividend and the migration to other frequencies.
