France Télévisions, along with French producer La Vingt-Cinquième Heure, is creating a 360° VR experience based around French astronaut Thomas Pesquet. The experience will feature two short-form 360° programmes (2 x 15min).
These short documentaries, collectively called Dans la peau de Thomas Pesquet (In the Life of Thomas Pesquet) will chronicle the daily life of the astronaut whilst preparing his space mission, and during his six months spent on the ISS from November 2016 to June 2017. The experience will allow users equipped with a VR headset to immerse themselves in the training astronauts undergo when training in Houston, taking-off and travelling in space.
The project, which will be available as Android and iOS apps as well as well as online, is currently in beta-testing and is scheduled to go live in May.
