SpaceX has secured the launch contracts for two Turkish satellites, Turksat 5A and 5B. Turkish Transport Minister Ahmet Arslan confirmed the agreement on November 9th.
Elon Musk, CEO at SpaceX, met Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara on Nov 8th and discussed cooperation between his electric car division Tesla, SpaceX and Turkish businesses.
Aerospace giant Airbus is building the two satellites, which will launch in 2020 and 2021. Both are ‘all electric’ satellites.
The agreements cover a ‘build and launch’ contract already in place between Airbus and Turksat.
