Telefónica’s IPTV platform Movistar Plus gained 100,000 net TV subscribers in the third quarter, double on the same period from the previous quarter. The rise is largely attributed to the new Fusión packages launched in July.
The number of subscribers to the convergent offer Movistar Fusión grew by 2 per cent year-on-year with an 85 per cent penetration in TV and broadband.
In the first nine months of the year, Telefónica made a profit of €2.43 billion, up 9.6 per cent on the same period last year, although Q3 was down by14.7 per cent as a result of the end of the roaming.
The company has appointed Sergio Oslé to replace Luis Blasco, in an effort to boost the TV division.
