Greek TV news on strike
October 4, 2017
By Chris Forrester
Journalists, both print and TV/radio, in Greece are on strike. The action started on the morning of September 3rd and will continue until 6am on October 4th. All radio and TV news broadcasts were pulled, and morning newspapers were not expected to be printed.
The main complaint from journalists is that there has been under-funding of their social security and pension contributions.
The country’s main union for journalist, ESIEA, is calling on the government to pass legislation ensuring that their social security fund will be able to meet the health care and pension requirements for journalists in the country.
