WeCast presents new STB line up
September 13, 2017
WeCast will be demonstrating its IPTV/OTT end-to-end solution at IBC alongside new set-top boxes powered by Android TV boasting 4G and IoT capabilities. The new devices developed by its parent company – WeTek – will be available as OEM complements for WeCast’s solution as well as to the general public.
According to WeCast COO, Zlatan Brdaric, the new devices will allow the company to respond to “telcos, operators, and ISPs looking to explore Google’s ecosystem, as well as 4G and IoT features to face the near future challenges.”
The company will also be unveiling the first Android TV powered device boasting a DVB tuner for linear TV reception. “We’re excited to offer something that the cord-cutting community has been waiting for – Android TV meets linear TV,” Zlatan Brdaric explains.
WeTek’s new Android TV devices will allow users to enjoy a world of content, gaming, and apps powered by the Android TV ecosystem. Additionally Chromecast built-in technology will also be available for streaming music from a phone, tablet or laptop right to the TV, as well as voice search, and the ability to control the TV with the remote app on an Android phone or Wear watch.
The new devices powered by Android TV will be demonstrated at WeCast’s booth (14.M28) at IBC in Amsterdam from September 15 to 20, 2017. Attendees can book a hands-on demonstration by visiting WeCast’s website and booking a meeting for IBC.
