Confirming the pursuit of its multichannel strategy, French Media Group TF1 has revealed it will pour €1 billion into programming this season. €150 million will go on news content and news channel LCI, whilst €850 million will be spent on content production and acquisitions. TF1 will take the bulk of this budget, ahead of DTT channels TMC (all-genres), NT1 (targeting Millennials) and HD1 (drama).
Under the lead of new CEO Gilles Pélisson, TF1 Group is strengthening its strategy of makinmg its networks more complementary to each other. TV shows and productions will circulate among channels to enhance their impact.
“The results of such a strategy are very positive and almost immediate with a strong acceleration over the first semester,” TF1 content boss Ara Aprikian explained at a press meeting.
Last season, TF1 Group established an audience share of 28.1 per cent, up 0.5 per cent year on year.
