Viacom has confirmed that its MTV Germany channel will go FTA in Germany and Austria from January 2018.

Since March this year, MTV has been available for fre via a live stream online. Viacom also recently launched a new version of the ‘MTV Play’ app for iOS and Android, which gives viewers on mobile devices free access to the stream and on-demand content from MTV.

The HD version of MTV will remain on the channel line-up for various pay-TV providers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
