August 1, 2017
From Branislav Pekic in Rome
Italy’s Ministry of Economic Development has initiated the procedure for allocating the rights of use of frequencies on the Eutelsat satellite located at 9 degrees East.
This follows the positive conclusion of the coordination procedure and the notification of the frequencies to the ITU which has made available on 10 channels with national coverage in frequency bands planned for the Broadcasting Satellite Service (BSS).
The assignable frequency blocks are divided into two lots:
– Lot A, consisting of the first 5 channels (21, 23, 25, 27 and 29) of 33 MHz each;
– Lot B, consisting of the remaining 5 channels (31, 33, 35, 37 and 39), of which 4 are 33 MHz and one of 50 MHz.
A single bidder can be awarded both lots offered and the rights of use will be for 15 years with the possibility of a single renewal.
Applications for the awarding of frequency use rights can be submitted to the Ministry from September 4th 2017 until January 22nd 2018.
The list of applicants with the required batches of frequencies will be made public on the Ministry’s website, excluding the bidding offer.
