Intelsat launch scrubbed by SpaceX
July 3, 2017
By Chris Forrester
The countdown for the launch of Intelsat 35e was halted with just 9 seconds to go when a computer monitoring the Falcon 9 rocket’s guidance, navigation and control criteria aborted the launch. The launch was scheduled for the later afternoon of July at 07.36 Florida-time.
SpaceX says it is looking into the problem and has provisionally re-set the launch for the evening of July 3rd, at 7.37 Eastern Daylight Time (23.37 GMT).
Intelsat 35e is a giant of a spacecraft weighing 6761 kgs. Built by Boeing it is the heaviest-ever launched by SpaceX. This means that there will be no attempt to recover the rocket’s first stage on this launch.
