Facebook eyes first scripted content
June 13, 2017
Facebook is reportedly nearing a deal for its first scripted content. The social media giant is set to bring back Loosely Exactly Nicole – a show that was cancelled by MTV – for a new season.
The family comedy show, starring actress Nicole Byer, was cancelled by MTV back in February after only one season. Despite the show not being a ratings success, Byer still has a devoted young fanbase from the MTV2 show Girl Code in which she also stars, and her stand-up career.
Mina Lefevre originally developed the show for MTV, but has since jumped to Facebook to work as a head of development.
Later this year, Facebook is expected to unveil a video slate that includes shortform content from partners like Buzzfeed and Vox.
