Italy has 431 TV channels

A total of 431 TV channels were available in Italy via the main distribution platforms (DTT, DTH) at the end of the first quarter of 2017, according to a report by Confindustria Radio Televisioni (CRTV).
Of the total, 366 are produced in Italy, of which 128 are available on DTT while 294 are distributed via satellite/DTH (FTA and pay-TV). This figure includes 40 time-shifted channels and 36 pay-per-view services.
In terms of technology, 259 TV channels are transmitted in Standard Definition and 105 in High Definition (of which 28 free-to-air). There is also a channel in 3D and another in Super HD.
There are a total of 130 FTA channels (98 are available on DTT and 63 on the Tivusat DTH platform), while 236 are pay-TV (207 distributed by Sky Italia, 30 by Mediaset Premium).
The main channel producers are Sky Italia (119 channels), followed by Mediaset (39), RAI (26), Fox International Channels Italy (24), Discovery Italia (21), Viacom Media Italia (13) and Walt Disney Italia (11).
