Game of Thrones, HBO’s blockbuster fantasy series, will continue after the main series ends next year via multiple spin-off shows.
HBO has revealed that it has signed a deal with George RR Martin, the author of the Game Of Thrones novels, and a team of scriptwriters to develop new narratives within the fantasy realm.
“We’ll take as much or as little time as the writers need and, as with all our development, we will evaluate what we have when the scripts are in,” an HBO spokeswoman said.
Jane Goldman – the co-writer of movies including Stardust, X-Men: First Class and Kick-Ass – and Carly Wray, who has written for Mad Men, are among the scriptwriters who will work with Martin on the projects.
Game Of Thrones season 7 airs in July, and the 8th and final season is scheduled for a summer 2018 release.
