Discovery Networks Latin America/US Hispanic, a division of Discovery Communications, and BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm and main subsidiary of the BBC) have announced a first look deal for the factual, lifestyle, natural history and motor programming categories, through which Discovery’s networks will become the home to many of the BBC’s most popular titles.
As a result of this agreement, Discovery’s portfolio will be the hub of the BBC Worldwide’s most iconic franchises, such as the famed natural history documentary series, Planet Earth II and Blue Planet II; the hit motoring franchise Top Gear, as well as the newly produced US version; the popular baking competition The Great British Bake Off and the internationally famous fashion show What Not to Wear.
“Discovery has had a longstanding partnership with the BBC Worldwide and we are very excited to be the home of these world-famous franchises,” said Carolina Lightcap, EVP and Chief Content Officer for DLA/USH. “This extensive collection of programs will provide our viewers with some of the most engaging and entertaining content available anywhere, beginning with the iconic Planet Earth II, premiering in June. This agreement further solidifies Discovery’s commitment in offering high-quality programming throughout our networks in Latin America.”
