Cairo Communications plans two new TV channels

Italian media and advertising group Cairo Communications is planning to launch two new TV channels and lease surplus capacity on its DTT multiplex.
Cairo Communications owns two national TV channels (La7 and La7d) that use the company’s Cairo Due national DTT multiplex.
According to owner, Urbano Cairo, there are plans for two new TV channels, of which one could be launched by the end of the year, reports Ansa.
He also said that negotiations are underway with several parties regarding the leasing of surplus DTT capacity, adding that there is enough space for up to 12 TV channels on the same frequency.
Cairo Communications reported profits of €21.6 million in 2016, on a turnover of €631.7 million. The TV activities posted a gross operative profit of €1.8 million, while TV advertising revenue amounted to €141.8 million.
