V-Nova’s Perseus compression system is being used by satellite operator Thaicom in a special demonstration to clients at a workshop on how broadcasters could move into 4K and 8K transmissions.
Thaicom is using Perseus to show UHD distribution of premium sports over satellite “at a revolutionary low data rate,” according to a press statement. “The breakthrough achievement will allow sports services to deliver UHD sports content more effectively and cost-efficiently,” adds the release.
The solution will be part of a workshop on ‘4K/8K TV broadcasting and production equipment’ organised by Office of The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), Thailand and Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), Japan, on February 28th at Century Park Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.
