Italy: Discovery launches HD version of Nove
February 28, 2017
From Branislav Pekic in Rome
Broadcaster Discovery Italia is launching the HD version of its general entertainment terrestrial TV channel Nove on March 1st.
Nove HD will be available on the free-to-air satellite platform TivùSat on channel 9, previously occupied by the SD version of the channel. This will be Discovery Italia’s sixth FTA channel on TivùSat – in addition to Nove, Real Time, DMax, Giallo and Focus.
With the arrival of Nove HD, the total number of HD channels on the TivùSat platform will rise to 27.
Public broadcaster RAI already broadcasts all of its channels via satellite in HD, as opposed to commercial rival Mediaset whose HD channels are currently only available on DTT.
