Italian thematic channel producer Giglio Group has signed a deal to distribute the Nautical Channel in South Africa.

The agreement will see the channel, dedicated to boating and water spots, distributed exclusively on the Discovery Digital IPTV platform, which offers 12 news and sports TV channels.

The Nautical Channel thus joins channels such as CCTV, France24, Bloomberg, Sky News, Al Jazeera, Fox Sports, Edge Sports and Motorvision.tv.

Giglio Group produces a total of four thematic TV channels (Nautical Channel, Giglio TV, Acqua and Playme). The company ended 2016 with a 152 per cent growth in revenues to €34.7 million, while net profits were up 69 per cent to €1.7 million.
