Original kids’ content for YouTube Red
February 14, 2017
YouTube’s SVoD service YouTube Red is getting four new childrens’ series later this year.
The shows are tween drama Hyperlinked; animated series The Kings of Atlantis; a spin-off from the popular mobile game Fruit Ninja: Frenzy Force, and the animated Minecraft-themed show DanTDM Creates A Big Scene.
“This marks the first time YouTube Red has invested in creators who are producing original programming for family audiences,” Malik Ducard, YouTube’s global head of family and learning, wrote in a blog post. “These series will debut starting in the spring. Additional shows are in development and will premiere throughout 2017.”
Meanwhile, YouTube has announced that its YouTube Kids app will soon be available soon for download on a number of internet-connected LG and Samsung Smart TVs. The app currently has over 8 million active users.
