Spain: FTTH lines surpass 4.5m

The deployment of FTTH network in Spain is speeding up with more than 4.57 million lines at the end of October.
The latest CNMC stats reveal that FTTH lines are increasing every month with 155,180 new lines in October, and 1.8 million year-on-year, up 47 per cent. Movistar is the market leader with 2.9 million and a market share of 63.1 per cent. Currently, FTTH represents 33 per cent of all fixed broadband lines in the country.
Whilst FTTH is growing, ADSL lines are in free fall with a decrease of 96.662 in October, some 1.4 million year-on-year, representing now 47 per cent (57 per cent one year ago) of all fixed broadband lines. HFC lines stood at 2.5 million.
Overall, Telefónica leads the fixed broadband market with a share of 43.12 per cent followed by Orange with 28.79 per cent and Vodafone with 22.80 per cent.
